I didn't have to see the dying, didn't have to see the blood
I didn't have to watch this, but knew I would; I knew I would.

I saw it coming; He showed me in His eyes
The holy spotless Lamb of God must choose to die, be sacrificed.

For I know the Messiah must be broken
For the ones that He loves to be made whole
But Truth cannot disguise a mother's pain:
A sword through my soul, a sword through my soul.

When He was young, I washed Him, and held Him when He cried.

It's not natural--this woman's still a virgin;
How am I to believe that God would conceive a Child within her?
This is just too much--what does Joseph have to go on?
Just the Word in a dream that things aren't always as they seem

By the power of the Holy Spirit, heaven has come down
No one knows the beginning or the end of God's creating
In a land of darkness, God has come like the sunrise to the morning
Praise to Jesus!  Laugh with me, for a baby is the King of Glory

All of my life I have longed for consolation;

Now I can see, through holy revelation,
God is still faithful to me, I will peacefully die

I can peacefully go; my Salvation is here;
The faithful Redeemer has finally come - - He's appeared
