God Speaks to Theologians, Too!

My Conversation with God | Christianity Today

This story ROCKS! :^) I really believe that God speaks to us. But because I can't provide a mechanical, static, repeatable definition (which our society, or perhaps just our human desire for control, seems to demand) for how and when God speaks, there are many faithful Christians I've met who discount the possibility of God speaking today. Or at least they don't believe that it's common--to them it seems to be something that happens to a precious, chosen few. I believe it's more common than that. But since we can't "prove" it (in the laboratorial, repeatable scientific experiment sense), we're left with narrative. Witness. Testimony.

Adoption, Marriage, & Religious Rights in an Era of Gay Rights

Banned in Boston

"How much of the coming threat to religious liberty actually stems from same-sex marriage? These experts' comments make clear that it is not only gay marriage, but also the set of ideas that leads to gay marriage--the insistence on one specific vision of gay rights--that has placed church and state on a collision course. Once sexual orientation is conceptualized as a protected status on a par with race, traditional religions that condemn homosexual conduct will face increasing legal pressures regardless of what courts and Congress do about marriage itself."

Interesting interview

In my continuing battle to find a satisfying hybrid between the stereotypical dichotomy between politically "liberal" and "conservative" (blech!), I found this interview interesting. I've never heard of this guy before, but it's nice to know there are people out there saying things like this.
http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2006/november/12.52.html

What do you think after reading the interview?

Some Beliefs

Tired of being misunderstood by people who seem to only understand the package deals our major political parties put forth, I want to lay out some of the things I believe. If all you know are those popularized package deals, these items may seem disjointed or contradictory. My goal and hope is to be obedient to Christ; I hope these beliefs reflect that. So... in no particular order...

Because power corrupts, the government can do little, if anything, with excellence.
