I didn't have to see the dying, didn't have to see the blood
I didn't have to watch this, but knew I would; I knew I would.

I saw it coming; He showed me in His eyes
The holy spotless Lamb of God must choose to die, be sacrificed.

For I know the Messiah must be broken
For the ones that He loves to be made whole
But Truth cannot disguise a mother's pain:

When He was young, I washed Him, and held Him when He cried.
Now helplessly I stand and watch Him be crucified, be crucified.

The heart of God has opened; the wall of sin divides no more;
The Word of peace has been spoken forevermore, forevermore.
